The Most Important New Gameplay Features In FC 24
This guide will show you the best new features in FC 24. All these are you need to be aware of and get to grips when you are playing the game! Without further ado, let’s dive into it!
1. PlayStyles
Of all the new features being brought into FC 24, PlayStyles will have the greatest impact on the players in the game. PlayStyles are dynamic traits and abilities that are reflections of real-life player skills. EA Sports has partnered with Opta, and by using their analytical data, FC 24 integrates players’ signature styles into the game, enabling their fans to build stronger squads based on their knowledge of how these players play in real life.
More than 30 PlayStyle traits are available in FC 24, divided into six categories: Scoring, Passing, Ball Control, Defending, Physical, and Goalkeeper. Each trait also has a PlayStyle+ variation, which will have the same effect as the regular PlayStyle but greatly improved. For example, it can provide significantly improved accuracy on shots or passes. To better understand what PlayStyles are in FC 24, you can check out FC 24: All PlayStyles Explained page.
2. Precision Passing
Precision Pass is an entirely new mechanic in FC 24, giving players a level of control in their passing that will allow them to aim their passes precisely and have the receiving players move toward the incoming ball. So make sure you know how to use it. Here are all of the controls that you’ll need:
Precision Pass: R1 + Through Ball (Triangle/Y)
Precision Lob: R1 + Lob Pass (Square/X)
Swerved Precision Pass: L2 + R1 + Through Ball (Triangle/Y)
The standard Precision Pass is great if you spot a flat angle where a forward can run directly onto the path of a ball. This is great from the byline or through the middle and is perfect when used in conjunction with fast, line-breaking strikers. For the Precision Lob, you’ll want to use this when performing cross-field passes to switch up the play or if you want a bit of extra precision when crossing into the box. Finally, the Swerved Precision Pass is definitely going to be a favorite of the community, as it allows you to curve a ground-through ball around a defensive line to perfectly meet the feet of an on-running attacker.
3. Effort Dribble Touch
Effort Dribble Touch is a new mechanic in FC 24 that allows you to quickly knock the ball in any direction and set up your next move. This is a great tool for moving the ball out of the path of your opponent’s feet or to take a defender by surprise with a Controlled First Touch when used as your first touch of the ball. To request an Effort Dribble Touch:
Press R1 + Right Stick || RB + Right Stick for an Effort Touch.
A quick flick with the Right Stick will result in a shorter distance knock on the ball while holding the Right Stick will knock the ball a greater distance.
With such easy controls, the goodness doesn’t stop just here, and you can use this incredibly easy technique to Cancel Shots/Passes as well.
4. AcceleRATE 2.0 [Next Gen]
AcceleRATE 2.0 is here in FC 24, and with it comes four new types to accompany the Lengthy, Controlled, and Explosive styles that we are so familiar with now. Here are the seven AcceleRATE 2.0 styles that each player will be assigned:
Explosive
Mostly Explosive
Controlled Explosive
Controlled
Controlled Lengthy
Mostly Lengthy
Lengthy
AcceleRATE 2.0 styles affect how each player runs in-game, with certain styles giving you a speed boost, whereas others have you winning out over longer distances. Each style is given to a player based on their build and real-life running style and should hopefully make them feel closer to their real-world counterpart.
5. Controlled Sprint
In order to execute this move, players simply need to hold either R1 on PlayStation or RB on the Xbox consoles to use the Controlled Sprint. This is a mechanic at which players are still moving with some pace but retaining more control than just the standard sprint the series has become known for. This naturally allows for more agile control and makes changing directions that much easier. This mechanic allows for a faster way of building up the play, keeping the defenders on their toes, and can be used to create knock-on opportunities for faster players.
It is also wise to note that certain PlayStyles will benefit even more with the move. Players possessing First Touch Control, Speed Dribbler, or Fast Break can make the most of their traits and use Controlled Sprint with even more speed but also more control. By mastering this technique, everyone can become a nightmare for the defense.
6. Advanced Shot Cancels
FC 24 brings a new way to execute Shot Cancels, making it a much more viable option for players to use. Shot Cancels are used to end an ongoing shooting animation to fool the opponent and make them commit to a block/tackle while making space to increase the percentage chances of your shots. Also, you will be able to cancel your shots and transition into other animations like:
Shot Cancel into Skill Moves - There are a variety of skills that if executed in a short window after powering up your shot will cancel the shot and quickly transition into the skill move
Power Shot into Chip Shots: You can power up a Power Shot which has a slightly long animation and then press L1 || LB to cancel the power shot and make it a Chip Shot
Power Shot into Finesse Shots: The same can be done but change the Power Shot into a Finesse Shot by pressing R1 || RB before the animation ends to change it
Some of these Skill Moves are really easy and quick to execute and using them will create a lot more opportunities for players to beat defenders and make space to create chances.
7. Precision Shooting
The revamp to Semi-Assisted shooting, enabling this under Shot Assistance will give players more control over the direction of their shots and reward them for it in FC 24. The requirements to execute this shot are: Power needs to be below 30% of the bar and Needs to be requested within the 18-yard box - anything outside this range will be a Low Shot
Unlike its passing counterpart, it isn’t exactly just a way for you to place shots. This feels like a way for you to accurately aim your shots at the goal to get them to go closer to where you’re actually aiming. When you’re in the game, you will see a small line at your player’s feet when you go to shoot; this is the indicator for Precision Shooting and is how you know where you’re aiming. This will make shots near the goal incredibly quicker and more accurate, making them very useful in key moments of the game.
8. New Skill Moves
The FC 24 new skill moves introduce four new ways to embarrass your opponents, alongside tweaks to existing skills to fit the new Trickster PlayStyle.
Ball Roll Drag (four-star) – Hold L1 + Flick RS Forward, Left/Right / Hold LB + Flick RS Forward, Left/Right
Drag Back Turn (four-star) – Hold L2 + Hold RS Back / Hold LT + Hold RS Back
Flair Nutmegs (four-star) – Hold L1 + R1 + Flick RS Direction / Hold LB + RB + Flick RS Direction
Flair Rainbow (five-star) – Hold L1 + RS Back, Forward / Hold LB + RS Back, Forward
Trickster Flicks – R3 + LS in desired direction
Trickster Ball Roll – L2 + R2 / LT + RT from standing
Trickster Ball Catch – L2 + Fake Shot from standing/ LT + Fake Shot from standing
Adding any skill move into your FC 24 repertoire is always a good move – granted, you can utilize them in the right place at the right time. This is especially true with brand-new skills, which in previous EA soccer games have often proven to be a mighty means of dismantling opponents. FIFA 23’s heel-to-ball roll is a good example of this.
