FC 24 Tactical Visions Explained

Tactical Visions is a new feature in FC 24 Career Mode that allows you to customize how your team plays based on predetermined tactics that replicate the most popular styles of play we see in real life. This is particularly useful when attempting to create an attacking and defensive style that increases the chances of winning games against the trickiest of opponents. In this article, let’s take a look at all the tactical visions in FC 24.

Standard - A balanced approach to a match.

Description: Your team takes a balanced approach to the game, focused on maintaining a shape that will help you stay strong defensively while still offering a threat going forward. With this tactical vision, your team is neither passive nor aggressive and plays while maintaining its formation shape and tactics.

Wing Play - Using the full width of the pitch with overlapping full-backs.

Description: Your side makes use of the full width of the pitch when in possession, getting the ball out to attacking players close to the touchlines quickly and using overlapping full-backs to add to the threat from those areas. If you focus on wing attacks and then deliver the ball through accurate crosses, wing play can be a suitable tactical vision. A caveat is that this tactic is less effective when you play opponents that crowd the box with defensive players and deep defensive lines.

Tiki-Taka - Possession-based. Lots of passing and chances to play the ball to attackers running in behind the defensive line.

Description: You look to employ a possession-based style of play. Comfortable on the ball all over the pitch, your players use short passing and rotations while waiting for opportunities to play in attackers who’ve run into channels or gaps between opposition defenders. It also wears the opposition down and depletes their stamina, making it easier to find space as the match goes on. For those who like to keep the ball in FC 24 and not give it back, Tiki Taka is the best Tactical Vision in Career Mode.

Counter-Attack - Defensive style with a focus on fast attacking once the ball is regained.

Description: Low-risk and a low block are the keys to your team’s style of play. Players defend the penalty area and then, once possession is regained, get the ball forward quickly, with attackers ready to run into space behind the opponents’ defensive line. This tactical vision is most effective when you’re using a team that is playing in a competition where the opponents are much better. It allows you to be strong defensively while presenting a few chances to attack.

Gegenpressing - The team tries to win the ball back in the opponent’s half as quickly as possible.

Description: Your strategy is based around a high press. Your team tries to win back the ball in the opponent’s third wherever possible, using turnovers to create goalscoring opportunities before the opposition can settle back into shape. However, it’s worth keeping in mind that this playstyle suits teams with plenty of stamina and might require a tweak to the Training Plan so players can meet the demands.

Kick and Rush - Utilises the strength of players. Allows players to move the ball forward quickly to the strikers behind the defenders.

Description: A style of play built around strength and athleticism enables your players to often bypass midfield, getting the ball forward quickly to your powerful strikers who can exploit space behind defenses and battle for second balls and knockdowns. With this style of play, you will need a pacey attacker who can reach the ball faster than your opponent players.

Park the Bus - Heavy focus on defending. Designed to throttle any attacking opportunities before attempting to move forward.

Description: Your team bases its game around solid, uncompromising defending. You’re always disciplined and well-organized out of possession, usually employing a very low block, throttling opponents’ attacks before winning the ball and trying to get forward yourselves. While you can surely stop your opponent from scoring through this tactical vision, it also limits your chances of scoring since most of your players are focused on the defense line and maintaining its shape.

All Tactical Visions can be used with any formation in FC 24. Ultimately, it’s down to you to decide which tactics suit your team the best.
